Sechin could potentially be nominated to Rosneft board of directors in future - chairman
ST. PETERSBURG. June 20. (Interfax) - Chairman of the board of directors of Rosneft Alexander Nekipelov does not rule out the possibility of including the company's President Igor Sechin in the list of board candidates in the future.
At Rosneft's annual general shareholder meeting, Nekipelov said that Sechin was not included in the list of board candidates for this year because he was the Russian Deputy Prime Minister at the time that the list was compiled.
In order to join the board of directors, an initiative is needed by Rosneft's primary shareholder or shareholders owning 2% or more of company stock, Sechin said. "So far, nobody has made a proposal," he said, adding that if such an initiative does appear, it will first be reviewed by the board of directors, then by shareholders.
The list of candidates for the Rosneft board of directors includes the following: Managing Director of Nord Stream AG Matthias Warnig, President and CEO of Bank of Moscow , Mikhail Kuzovlev, Vice Presidents of the Russian Academy of Sciences Nikolai Laverov and Nekipelov, current member of the Rosneft board Hans-Joerg Rudloff, First Vice President of Rosneft Eduard Khudainatov, Senior Vice President at VTB Bank Sergei Shishin, the deputy head of Russian Technologies Dmitry Shugayev, and the head of UCP Capital Partners Ilya Shcherborvich.
