Retail trade in Russia up 7.2% in 5M - Rosstat

MOSCOW. June 20 (Interfax) - Retail trade turnover in Russia increased 7.2% year-on-year to 8.013 trillion rubles in the first five months of this year, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.

Retail grew 6.8% to 1.702 trillion rubles in May alone.

Retail in foodstuffs, including tobacco, grew 4.9% to 3.76 trillion rubles in the 5M, including 793.6 billion rubles in May, up 4.8% year-on-year, and retail in nonfood goods grew 9.2% to 4.253 trillion rubles (8.5% to 908.1 billion rubles).

Retail outlets and proprietors accounted for 89.6% and markets for 10.4% of retail sales in the 5M and 88.8% and 11.2%, respectively, in May.
