Football fans will tell their countries truth about Ukraine - PM Azarov

KYIV. June 20 (Interfax) - Foreign football fans who attended the Euro 2012 football championship liked Ukraine and they will bring truth about Ukraine to their countries, said Ukraine's Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.

"Already hundreds of foreign guests publicly expressed their disappointment over being misinformed and their admiration at what they really saw. Direct familiarization with Ukraine dispels the myths. The guests see that our country is being enthusiastic about the championship, we are properly prepared, various thoughts in Ukraine are being expressed freely, order and safety provided," the prime minister told the government on Wednesday.

"Ukraine is an open democratic country. We are glad to welcome fans, and tourists, and businessmen, and politicians. As long as they want to assess Ukrainian realities on the basis of their own observations, and not on what is being said by our opposition emissaries. They did all that to disrupt the big victory of our people, to disrupt the championship in Ukraine. They did not succeed," Azarov said.

The successful conduct of the Euro 2012 is a certain milestone in Ukraine's systemic reforms and European integration, the prime minister said.
