Russia, France to cooperate in radioactive waste management
MOSCOW. June 21 (Interfax) - The Rosatom State Corporation and the French National Agency for Radioactive Waste Management Andra signed a memorandum on mutual understanding on Thursday.
Rosatom said they affirmed the mutual wish to develop cooperation in radioactive waste management, including the development of waste management techniques, opening of waste storage sites, notification of residents and formation of a public opinion about the opening of waste management sites, and defined main principles and terms of cooperation.
The memorandum declared the interest of Rosatom and Andra in the formation of a working group for planning joint projects in safe management of radioactive waste.
The memorandum was signed in the implementation of the Russian-French agreement on atomic energy cooperation of 1996.
