KOGAS announces tender to process seismic data at investment block in Uzbekistan
TASHKENT. June 21. (Interfax) - Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) has announced a tender to process 2D seismic survey data taken at the Uzunkui-Tuaryk investment block in Uzbekistan's Ustyurt oil and gas region.
According to local media, the winner of the tender will have to process seismic data gathered throughout an area of about 1,000 linear kilometers.
Applications to participate in the tender are being taken until July 16, with the results being summed up in August.
KOGAS and Uzbek oil and gas holding Uzbekneftegaz signed an agreement for joint geological research at the Uzunkui-Tuaryk block in May 2008. The geological survey program envisaged 2D seismic survey covering 1,100 linear km and the drilling of two wells, with the entire set of work ringing up to $22 million. KOGAS reserves the exclusive right to develop deposits discovered within the contracted territory after it has fulfilled all of its obligations under the agreement.
The Ustyurt oil and gas region is one of the largest but least studied in Uzbekistan. Prospective gas resources are estimated at 1.685 trillion cubic meters, and liquid hydrocarbon resources - 1.72 billion tonnes.
