MV Alaed flies Russian flag
MURMANSK. June 25 (Interfax) - Russian vessel Alaed, which was to deliver Mikoyan Mi-25 helicopters repaired in Russia to Syria, is lying at anchor at the port of Murmansk, with a Russian flag flown at the top of its mast, an Interfax correspondent said.
The cargo ship entered the Kola Bay under the flag of Curacao and was reflagged at the port of Murmansk on Sunday.
The next stop of the vessel and waiting time are unknown, the port administration told Interfax.
Earlier, the ship owner, a Far East-based company called FEMCO, said MV Alaed lies at anchor awaiting further instructions from the shipper as to the readiness of additional cargo for shipment. After that, the vessel will head to the port of Vladivostok.
MV Alaed will head from Murmansk to Syria, a military diplomatic source told Interfax in Moscow earlier. The vessel was due to be escorted, he said. The vessel will not be escorted by a warship or a Russian Navy transport vehicle, he said.
