Strategic benefits of development of Ukrainian-Russian relations are obvious - Azarov

KYIV. June 27 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has reiterated the need to discuss all cooperation issues at the meeting of the Ukrainian-Russian intergovernmental commission chaired by the heads of the two countries' governments, which be held in Kyiv on Wednesday.

"Ukraine intends to realize on a mutually profitable basis, Ukrainian-Russian joint integration projects in the sphere of nuclear energy, aircraft construction, aerospace industry, shipbuilding, and machine-building," Azarov said while opening the government meeting on Wednesday.

Attention will also be given to the development of cooperation in the sphere of transport and interregional and border cooperation, he said.

"The strategic benefits of development of Ukrainian-Russian relations are obvious because Russia is our main trade partner," Azarov said.

The Ukrainian prime minister said Ukrainian-Russian trade turnover is constantly increasing and Ukrainian export to Russia went up 8.2% in the first quarter of 2012.

The negotiation participants are expected to sign a number of bilateral documents, Azarov said.
