Libyan scenario cannot be used in Syria - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. June 27 (Interfax) - Russia warns that projecting the Libyan scenario in Syria may have catastrophic consequences for the region.

"We are convinced that projecting the Libyan model on other crisis situations, primarily on Syria, will not only not help resolve the situation, but will put the region in the abyss of chaos, which may be catastrophic for the entire region," Ivan Soltanovsky, director of the European Cooperation Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, told an international conference entitled Russia and NATO: Dialogue and Cooperation held in Moscow.
