MAKHACHKALA. June 27 (Interfax) - A member of a special-task police force was killed in an armed clash with militants in the village of Kvanada in Dagestan's Tsumada district on Wednesday. The fighting is continuing, the republic interior ministry told Interfax.

"The armed clash occurred when Dagestan's police and security services were conducting a search operation as part of a counter-terrorist operation underway in the district," it said.

"Police sergeant David Kusayev's death has been confirmed. The special operation is continuing," the interior ministry said.

The Russian Investigative Committee's Dagestan department has confirmed reports that a policeman was killed in the fighting. "A report on the fatality has arrived. Investigators will start working the moment the special operation commanders allow them to," a department spokesman said.
