Russia urges UN Human Rights Council to put off decisions on Syria
GENEVA. June 27 (Interfax) - Russia has urged the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) not to deliberate any "unilateral" draft resolution on Syria before a planned ministerial meeting of the Action Group of Syria in Geneva on June 30.
"We urge all the states to refrain from moves that can undermine the constructive efforts that are being made in the run-up to the [June 30 forum], in particular we urge our colleagues not to submit to the Human Rights Council any more unilateral draft resolutions on Syria but to wait for the results of the meeting of the Action Group," Vasily Nebenzya, Russian permanent envoy to UN organizations in Geneva, said during an HRC meeting on Wednesday.
