Gang leader killed in sting operation in Dagestan - interior ministry
MAKHACHKALA. June 27 (Interfax) - The active phase of the operation in the village of Kvanada in Dagestan's Tsumada district has been finished. The local gang leader and his wife have been killed. A police officer was killed, too, the republic's interior ministry informed Interfax.
"Gang leader Nazhmutdin Nazhmutdinov, also known as Abu-Zeit, who had been chief of the local subversive-terrorist group for the past 18 months, has been killed. His wife was wounded and later died," a interior ministry spokesman said.
Reports said earlier that special police task force sergeant David Kusayev was killed.
