Russian, Polish culture ministers discuss monument to Smolensk air crash victims
MOSCOW. June 28 (Interfax) - Russian Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky has met with Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage Bogdan Zdrojewski to discuss the erection of a monument to the victims of an air crash near Smolensk, which killed Polish President Lech Kaczynski, the Russian Culture Ministry said on Thursday.
The Polish Air Force's Tupolev Tu-154 aircraft crashed near Smolensk on April 10, 2010. The plane was carrying an official Polish delegation led by President Kaczynski, which was on its way to Katyn to attend memorial events. All 96 people on board - 88 passengers and eight crew members - were killed.
The ministers also discussed conducting a cross-year of Russia and Poland in 2015 and the work of the Russian-Polish and Polish-Russian centers of dialogue and accord, the statement said.
