Comment on Uzbekistan's CSTO withdrawal premature, Minsk says
MINSK. June 28 (Interfax) - Belarus will analyze the suspension of Uzbekistan's membership in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and will prepare its position on this situation later.
"It is too soon to make any statements whatsoever. The situation requires clarification of all circumstances," the Belarusian Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Savinykh told Interfax on Thursday.
"Our experts have already started this work. Belarus is planning to prepare an official position for a session of the CSTO founding bodies which will be looking at this matter," he added.
It was reported earlier that the CSTO secretariat received a note from the Uzbekistan Foreign Ministry about the republic's decision to suspend its membership in the Organization.
The CSTO members are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
