Russian interior ministry upbeat about ministry's top brass

VITEBSK, Belarus. June 28 (Interfax) - Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev expressed confidence on Thursday that his ministry's new top-level team is up to "the tasks that society sets to the Interior Ministry."

"The purpose of the staff changes in the leadership of the Interior Ministry was to make the structure of the agency as effective as possible," Kolokoltsev told reporters after a joint meeting in Vitebsk of the interior ministries of Russia and Belarus.

The plan was to put together "a team of professionals, a team of honest people, that would be able to carry out the tasks that society sets to the Interior Ministry," he said. "I hope that these tasks will be carried out successfully so that people are able to see changes for the better."
