Merkel to visit Moldova in August - Moldovan premier
CHISINAU. June 29 (Interfax) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel will pay an official visit to Moldova in August, Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat, who returned from Brussels on Thursday, said at a Friday press conference.
"I passed an official invitation to Angela Merkel to visit Moldova earlier. She said at yesterday's summit of the European People's Party that she would come with a visit in August. This will be the first visit of a German federal chancellor to Moldova," Filat said.
He said he was sure that "the visit will add an incentive to the process of Moldova's European integration, to which Germany is providing huge assistance and support."
"The upcoming discussions will facilitate the Transdniestria settlement process, in which Germany has been actively involved of late," Filat said.
