Moscow criticizes list of participants in intl conference on Syria as not optimal
MOSCOW. June 29 (Interfax) - Moscow believes the list of participants in an upcoming international conference on Syria in Geneva is not optimal.
"It has taken a lot of efforts to agree upon the very list of those invited to this event. Russia's proposal on this account met the U.S.' insurmountable objections, primarily as concerns Iran's participation. The decision to which Kofi Annan had to resort as the organizer and chairman of this meeting does not seem to be optimal, in our view," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement published on its website on Friday.
