Tomb in Iran, valley in Malaysia, pearling in Bahrain new entries on UNESCO heritage list

ST. PETERSBURG. July 2 (Interfax) - New entries from nine countries have been made to the UNESCO World Heritage List, UNESCO has reported.

At its 36th session in St. Petersburg, the World Heritage Committee added the following sites and properties to the list: Iran's Gonbad-e Qabus, a 53-meter high tomb built in 1006 A.D., the archaeological heritage of the Lenggong Valley in Malaysia, the landscape of Grand Pre in Canada, the Heritage of Mercury in Almaden, Spain and Indrija, Slovenia, Margravial Opera House in Bayreuth, Germany, the garrison border town of Elvas and its fortifications in Portugal and the Nord-Pas de Calais coal basin in France.

Pearling in Bahrain and the Masjed-e-Jame of Isfahan mosque in Iran are also among the new entries.
