PSA Peugeot Citroen and Mitsubishi plant in Kaluga switching to full cycle production

KALUGA. July 4 (Interfax) - LLC PCMA Rus, the Kaluga joint venture between PSA Peugeot Citroen and Japan's Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC), will officially begin making automobiles under a complete production cycle on Wednesday, two years after it assembled its first vehicle, the plant said.

French automaker Peugeot, which in mid-April began pre-serial production of the Peugeot 408, developed for the Russian market, plans to produce only this model at the PCMA Rus plant in Kaluga starting in July. Citroen also has plans to produce a new model for the Russian market in Kaluga.

"Over the coming months, Citroen and Mitsubishi models will be added to the line of automobiles produced with serial welding, painting and body assembly," the plant said.

LLC PCMA Rus, the joint company of PSA Peugeot Citroen (70%) and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (30%), has been producing cars since April 2010. Initial investment in the joint venture was 470 million euros. Initial capacity was 45,000 cars per year and this may increase to 125,000 in 2012.
