Dollar up, euro edges down on Wed
MOSCOW. July 4. (Interfax) - The U.S. dollar grew against the ruble on the MICEX on Wednesday, while the euro edged down amid a drop on the international Forex market.
By the end of the day, the dollar stood at 32.36 rubles/$1, up 21 kopecks over yesterday's closing value. The euro was at 40.53 rubles/EUR1, down 1 kopeck.
The bi-currency basket ended Wednesday at 36.04 rubles, up 10.5 kopecks, due to a negative correction in global oil prices.
The Central Bank of Russia (CBR) lowered its official dollar exchange rate for Thursday by 27.24 kopecks to 32.2065 rubles/$1. It lowered its official euro rate by 38.2 kopecks to 40.5512 rubles/EUR1.
The dollar averaged down 17.77 kopecks to 32.2221 rubles/$1 in Tom deals on the MICEX, while there were no Today deals due to the Independence Day holiday in the U.S. Overall trading volume was $3.989 billion.
The euro was down 38.24 kopecks to 40.5313 rubles/EUR1 in Tom deals and 23.73 kopecks to 40.5336 rubles/EUR1 in Tom deals in volume of EUR486.257 million, including EUR267.093 million Today and EUR219.164 million Tom.
The MosPrime rate for overnight loans fell 31 basis points to 5.5%, its lowest level since June 6.
