Uzbekistan continues NATO cargo transit to Afghanistan - serviceman
KALININGRAD. July 5 (Interfax-AVN) - Uzbek Deputy Defense Minister Maj. Gen. Rustam Niyazov has declined to name causes for Uzbekistan's suspended membership in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
"You ask the question to the wrong man. Our Foreign Ministry has sent a note to the CSTO Secretariat; everything is said there," he told reporters.
As for further use NATO use of the Termez air base for transit of servicemen and cargo to Afghanistan, Niyazov said, "We will continue the transit under decisions of the UN Security Council."
He spoke to the press after the Kaliningrad meeting of the Council of CIS Defense Ministers.
