SIBECO ups power generation 18.6% in H1

NOVOSIBIRSK. July 6. (Interfax) - OJSC Siberian Energy Company (SIBECO), a successor of Novosibirskenergo under the energy company's reorganization, boosted power generation 18.6% year-on-year to 6.775 billion kilowatt hours (kWh) in the first half of 2012, the company told Interfax.

At the same time, SIBECO reduced heat production 1.2% year-on-year to 7.865 million Gcal.

The increase in power output was due to Novosibirsk-based combined heat and power plants (CHPP) being loaded onto ODU of Siberia's balance sheet. Heat production was down owing to warmer weather conditions during the reporting period.

Specific fuel consumption on the electricity supply grew 3.5% to 302.8 g/kWh in January-June, while on the heat supply it was up 1.7% to 145.6 kg/Gcal.

"The reason for specific fuel consumption growth in 2012 was a 1.5-fold increase on generation under the condensing cycle and a 10.6% decrease in the share of power generation on the co-generation cycle," a SIBECO representative said.

SIBECO is affiliated with structures in the E4 group, the owner of which is Mikhail Abyzov. The company provides heat and power supply on the wholesale energy and capacity market, and it generates heat in Novosibirsk and Kuybyshev in the Novosibirsk region. Its generating capacities combine six CHPP in Novosibirsk, the Barabinsk CHPP and the Biysk CHPP (OJSC Biyskenergo). SIBECO's installed power capacity is 3,089 MW, and its installed heat capacity is 7,897 Gcal/h.

In April 2011, Novosibirskenergo's shareholders approved a reorganization by means of spinning off technical company Generatsiya, while simultaneously merging it to SIBECO. In addition, OJSC Electromagistral was spun off from Novosibirskenergo, and it received power transmission lines and substations with voltage of 220 kV.
