Nearly 400 kg of poached caviar seized in Kamchatsky poachers

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY. July 6 (Interfax) - Police and security officers in the Kamchatsky Territory have discovered a large amount of illegal red caviar.

The cargo was found onboard a vessel, "Urup," which arrived from the port of Ossara, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Directorate for the Kamchatsky Territory said in a statement.

"Security and police officers found 14 containers with caviar weighing around 390 kilograms. At the time of the inspection, the vessel's captain could not confirm the legality of the product being transported," the statement said.

An inquiry is underway. The Kamchatsky Transport Investigative Unit of the Far Eastern Transport Investigative Directorate is due to open a criminal case.
