Putin closely following situation in southern Russia hit by floods - spokesman

MOSCOW. July 7 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin is receiving information about the situation in southern Russia, which has been hit by heavy rains and floods, in real time, says his spokesman.

"Russian President Vladimir Putin is regularly receiving information on the situation in the Krasnodar territory from the heads of the Health Ministry, Emergency Situations Ministry, and the Regional Development Ministry," presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told Russian news agencies on Saturday.

Information to Putin is also coming to a crisis center deployed in the Krasnodar territory, where Governor Alexander Tkachyov has arrived and from where he plans to travel to Krymsk, he said.

The latest reports said 67 people were killed by floods and their consequences in the Krasnodar territory.
