Yanukovych: European integration remains at the core of Ukraine's foreign policy course
KYIV. July 11 (Interfax) - European integration remains the foundation of Ukraine's foreign policy course, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said at an informal meeting with the club of chief editors of the CIS, the Baltic states and Georgia in Crimea.
"Concrete results, and not formal prospects, matter to us in the process of transferring society to the European development model," he said as quoted by the presidential press service.
Yanukovych also said that today Europeans are not ready for concrete steps and give preference to making statements. "We realize what the reasons for this situation are, and, as I have said, we are ready to wait," he said.
However, this does not mean a halt in Ukraine's European transformation. On the contrary "we are focusing on our homework," in particular, on improving national legislation and bring it into line with European standards, Yanukovych said.
