34 bombs destroyed on Amur River bank in Khabarovsk Territory
KHABAROVSK. July 13 (Interfax-AVN) - Rescuers continue disposing World War II-era aerial bombs not far from the village of Sofiyskoye in the Ulchi district in the Khabarovsk Territory, the Russian Emergencies Situations Ministry's Far Eastern Regional Center said on Friday.
"The demining group of 10 people in two cars and a boat includes specialists from the Russian Emergencies Situations Ministry's Main Directorate for the region, the rescue center and the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry's Far Eastern Search and Rescue Squad," the statement said.
The main task of the group, which arrived at the site on July 10, is to inspect the area and dispose of explosive items. During this period, rescuers found and destroyed 34 aerial bombs. The search for ammunition continues.
On June 19, a resident of the Ulchi district found an aerial bomb with a diameter of around 300 millimeters on the Amur River bank seven kilometers above the village of Sofiyskoye. Subsequently, rescuers found seven more pieces of ammunition in this district.
