Medvedev demands speedy submittal of bills on agriculture adaptation to WTO accession

MOSCOW. July 13 (Interfax) - The Russian government must speed up the process of submitting to the Duma a package of bills on adaption of the agricultural sector to Russia's accession to the World Trade Organization, said Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

"It has to be submitted because we are talking about a situation related with a new factor, the WTO factor. Submit it as soon as possible," Medvedev told the government.

The request to instruct the Finance and Agriculture Ministries to submit these governmental bills to the State Duma in the very near future was made by Economic Development Minister Andrei Belousov.

Aside from the bill introducing a zero tax rate on profit, other bills could be submitted to parliament in the very near future, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich said for his part.

"As for the others, I held a conciliatory meeting, and these bills could, in fact, be submitted to the State Duma in the very near future," Dvorkovich said.
