Three volumes of 'Primorye guerillas' case stolen from Vladivostok court
VLADIVOSTOK. July 16 (Interfax) - Three volumes of the criminal case of 'Primorye guerillas' have been stolen from the building of Primorye territory court in Vladivostok, a source in law enforcement told Interfax on Monday.
"The report of the disappearance of the findings of the case was received on Friday. A team of investigators and operatives that was alerted to the scene did not discover traces of burglary," the source said.
The premises where the documents were kept are equipped with videocameras and an alert button. There are also cameras outside of the building.
A criminal case of the theft of official documents has been launched. Law enforcers are questioning witnesses and reconstructing the circumstances of the incident. They believe that tapes from the monitoring cameras will help establish who stole the documents.
"The theft of the document will hardly affect the time of the trial because there are electronic copies of the findings of the case," the source said.
Earlier reports said that Alexander and Vadim Kovtun, Roman Savchenko, Maxim Kirillov, Vladimir Ilyutikov and Alexei Nikitin will face trial on charges of illegal acquistion and possession of arms, a series of murders, armed robberies, the theft of documents, the intentional destruction of property, attacks on police officers, the theft of weapons, and car theft.
They will be tried by a jury. A court session to form the jury is scheduled for August 1.
