Russia ups meat, dairy output 8% in H1

MOSCOW. July 16 (Interfax) - Russia increased output of most food category products in the first half of 2012.

Meat and meat by-product output grew 8.3% year-on-year to 600,000 tonnes, the Russian Statistics Service said Monday.

Poultry meat production grew 16.5% to 1.6 million tonnes.

Sausage output climbed 1.9% to 776,000 tonnes and ready-to-cook meat products - 18.2% to 722,000 tonnes.

Production of liquid processed milk rose 8.2% to 2.6 million tonnes and kefir output increased 5.9% to 564,000 tonnes.

Russia doubled production of unrefined sunflower oil to 2 million tonnes.

Output of fruit and vegetable juices surged 8.8% to 1.4 billion cans and mineral and fizzy water (not sweetened) rose by 8.4% to 5.3 billion half liters.

Production fell 8.9% to 255 million cans of canned meat, 2.4% to 1.7 million tonnes of fish and fish products and 4.1% to 4.2 million tonnes of wheat and wheat-rye flour. Production of short storage life bakery products fell 1.6% to 3.2 million tonnes.
