Kyiv confirms death of 2 Ukrainian pilots in helicopter crash in Congo
KYIV. July 18 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has confirmed reports on the death of two Ukrainian pilots in the crash of a Mi-2 helicopter in the Republic of the Congo.
"The Ukrainian Embassy to the Republic of Senegal has reported that two Ukrainian pilots were killed in a helicopter crash near the town of Mbouambe, 180 kilometers north of Brazzaville, in the Republic of the Congo on the evening of July 16," Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Dykusarov told Interfax.
The Ukrainian embassy is looking into circumstances of the crash and is filling out the necessary forms to take the bodies back to Ukraine.
"The bodies of the dead Ukrainian citizens are in a morgue in Brazzaville," Dykusarov said.
It was reported earlier that two Ukrainian pilots had been killed in the crash of a Mi-2 helicopter in the Republic of the Congo.
