Oil transshipments through Georgia down 5.4% in H1
TBILISI. July 20 (Interfax) - Transshipments of oil from Azerbaijan along pipelines running through Georgia declined 5.4% year-on-year to 19.2 million tonnes in the first half of 2012, the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation (GOGC) said in a statement.
The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline carried 17.4 million tonnes of oil in the first half, 4.4% less year-on-year, and the Baku-Supsa Western Route Export Pipeline (WREP) carried 1.8 million tonnes, 16.7% less.
The two pipelines through Georgia carried 38.4 million tonnes of oil in 2011, 9.5% less than in 2010. Shipments were down 10.2% to 34.5 million tonnes along BTC to the Turkish port of Ceyhan and down 4.2% to 3.8 million tonnes to the Black Sea terminal of Supsa.
BTC has been transhipping oil from Azerbaijan since September 2005, and WREP since April 1999. The operator of both pipelines is BP.
