UN Security Council unanimously OK's extension of supervision mission in Syria
NEW YORK. July 20 (Interfax) - The UN Security Council has unanimously voted for a draft resolution on extending the UN Supervision Mission in Syria (UNSMIS) proposed by France, Germany, Portugal, and the United Kingdom.
The voting was preceded by consultations in camera.
It was reported earlier that the UN Security Council on Friday would consider two draft resolutions on extending the UNSMIS' mandate, one of them prepared by the United Kingdom and other Western countries and the other by Pakistan.
The resolution adopted on Friday extends the UNSMIS' mandate, which expires on July 20, for 30 days.
