District court judge murdered in Rostov region
ROSTOV-ON-DON. July 20 (Interfax) - Investigative bodies in the Rostov region have launched a criminal case in relation to the murder of the judge of the Myasnikovsky District Court, Interfax was told at the press service of the investigative department of the Investigative Committee in the Rostov region.
"Four unidentified criminals wearing masks entered a private house in the town of Chaltyr at about 3:10 a.m. on Friday and shot at the judge of the Maysnikovsky District Court living there," a press officer said.
The suspects entered the house through a window and took at least five shots inflicting two shot wounds to the judge. Then they fled from the scene of the crime in a Nissan Teana parked outside of the house.
The judge was rushed to hospital in critical condition where he died at about 7:00 a.m.
The press service of the Rostov police says that a criminal case of attempted murder, armed assault and illegal possession of arms was launched in relation to the crime.
"The criminal case was launched in relation to the attempted murder before the judge died," Interfax was told at the investigative department.
The wife and son of the judge were in the house at the time of the attack, but they survived unharmed, a press release of the regional police says.
The case is handled by a group of investigators and operatives from the investigative department and regional police.
