Kolokoltsev bans road closures for police motorcades in regions - ministry

MOSCOW. July 23 (Interfax) - Roads are no longer closed to clear way for motorcades of senior Interior Ministry officials during their visits to regional cities and towns, the ministry told Interfax on Monday.

The order was issued recently by Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, the ministry spokesperson said.

The order was prompted by a situation during Kolokoltsev's business trip to Penza. The minister noticed that the streets of the regional center were closed to traffic, which caused discontent among local residents.

"The ban on road closures is already in place," the ministry said.

In particular, during Kolokoltsev's trip to Krymsk on Saturday no hindrances to traffic were created in this town.

"The minister's motorcade had a police escort vehicle and two minibuses, one of which carried Kolokoltsev, and the other, the accompanying staff," the ministry said.

Kolokoltsev warned senior regional officials about their personal responsibility for compliance with his ban on traffic closures during regional trips by senior Interior Ministry officials, the Interior Ministry said.
