Fire confined at Komsomolets mine in Kuzbass
KEMEROVO. July 26 (Interfax) - A fire, which broke out on Thursday morning in the Komsomolets mine of SUEK-Kuzbass in Leninsk-Kuznetsky, Kemerovo region, has been confined, a SUEK-Kuzbass representative told Interfax.
He said the fire had spread from 10 to 15 square meters. The flame is being extinguished. The causes of the fire are unnamed.
Earlier reports said that a mine conveyer belt caught fire; 263 workers were evacuated, and no one was hurt.
Rescuers are working on the site. The mine owner said that the fire started in an area, where no mining was being done. Nevertheless, the mine suspended operation until the end of the investigation.
