Dairy-product import duties will not change much after Russia joins WTO
MOSCOW. July 30 (Interfax) - Starting August 23, and in line with Russia's accession to the World Trade Organization, the dairy-product import regimen will be changed a bit, as evidenced by the Customs Union's Unified Customs Tariff confirmed by the European Commission.
The changes particularly involve condensed cream and milk, natural butter, cheeses and curds. The duty on the condensed products will go down to 20% from today's 25%; that for butter will be 15% but not less than EUR 0.29 per kilogram versus 15% but not less than EUR 0.4/kg; and that on imported cheese will depend on what kind of cheese it is, but will be 15% but not less than EUR 0.25/kg for most cheese deliveries, versus 15% but not less than EUR 0.3. Imports of processed cheese and Brie will be subject to a duty of 15% but not less than EUR 0.3/kg versus the current 15% but no less than EUR 0.6/kg.
The 15% import duty on milk will not change, nor will the 5% duty for milk for infants and some types of cheese.
