Spectrum of foreign-investment-attractive sectors should expand - Medvedev
GORKY. July 30 (Interfax) - The task of the governmental commission for foreign investment oversight is to expand the list of sectors promising for foreign investments," Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said at a meeting of the commission.
"Our job is to, on the one hand, see that state interests do not suffer, and on the other, we have to minimize administrative barriers and expand the spectrum of sectors that are prospective for foreign investments," Medvedev said.
At the Russian government's last meeting, the matter of the commission's activities was considered, he said.
"There will be amendments introduced into the law on foreign investments that will make it possible to exclude a repeat consideration by the commission of decisions on the preliminary agreement of deals. If an applicant has done the necessary work, the responsibility will have been met," the prime minister said.
These amendments, Medvedev said, will provide the opportunity to extend the timeframe for such decisions and simplify and also make control procedures effective.
