Court undecided on video linkup request, suspends Tymoshenko hearings until Aug 14

KHARKIV. July 31 (Interfax) - A court in Kharkiv which is hearing the case of former Ukrainian prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko involvement in frauds connected with the Unified Energy Systems of Ukraine energy company, has adjourned decision-making on whether Tymoshenko could be allowed to attend the trial in a video linkup mode.

"The final decision can be made after we find out whether such a linkup is possible technically, and after inquiries have been sent to the Kharkiv Regional Court of Appeals and to the chief physician of Central Clinical Hospital No.5," Judge Kostiantyn Sadovsky said.

The next hearing of the UESU case has been set for August 14.

Tymoshenko's supporters in the audience shouted "Shame!" on hearing the announcement, an Interfax correspondent reported. Politician Oleksandr Kuzhel demanded explanations why monitors had appeared on the defense lawyers' and prosecutors' tables.
