Gazpromviet to get license for North Purovskoye field in Yamal within 3 months

MOSCOW. July 31. (Interfax) - The license for the North Purovskoye field in Yamal will be transferred to LLC Gazpromviet, a joint venture between Russia's Gazprom and Vietnam's Petrovietnam, within three months, Russian Natural Resources and Environment Minister Sergei Donskoi told journalists.

"The resolution on forming a license will be prepared in a few days. The license itself will be made out in up to three months," he said.

The Russian government has already given the go-ahead to transfer the exploration and production license for the North Purovskoye gas condensate field in Yamal to Gazpromviet. The license currently belongs to Gazprom.

In May 2008, Gazprom and Petrovietnam signed a cooperation agreement envisaging geological survey and the development of four new blocks on the Vietnamese shelf, as well as the creation of the JV Gazpromviet for operations in Russia and third countries. Gazprom got 51% of the JV, and Petrovietnam ended up with 49%.

This January, the license for another Russian field - the Nagumanovskoye oil and gas condensate field in the Orenburg region - was reassigned to Gazpromviet. This field serves as the base object of cooperation between Gazprom and Petrovietnam in Russia. The parties have also considered the possibility of expanding cooperation and including other licensed sections in the JV as well, particularly the North Purovskoye field and fields in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
