Russian stock market opens with losses, MICEX and RTS down 0.2%-0.5%
MOSCOW. Aug 2 (Interfax) - The Russian stock market opened trading on Thursday with losses on blue chips following U.S. and Asian markets after the U.S. Federal Reserve system did not announce new measures for economic stimulus. The MICEX and RTS indexes slumped by 0.2%-0.5% after the first five minutes of trading.
By 10:05 am Moscow time, the MICEX had slipped by 0.2% to 1,409.58 points while the RTS Index decreased by 0.5% to 1,368.51 points. Ruble-based blue chips on the MICEX-RTS exchange decreased within 1.1%.
Decliners at the start of trades were VTB , down 0.2%, Gazprom - 0.2%, Lukoil - 0.1%, MMC Norilsk Nickel - 0.2%, Polyus Gold - 0.2%, Rosneft - 1.1%, Surgutneftegas - 0.3%, Tatneft - 0.2%, and Federal Grid Company UES - 0.1%.
