Russian govt needs to beef up control over license issuance for shelf development - Medvedev

MOSCOW. Aug 2. (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev advocates beefing up control over the issuance of licenses to develop sections on the continental shelf.

"We need to establish due control over the issuance of licenses. We issue licenses, but we don't have normal control over how they are executed by all companies - both state and private," he said during a government meeting tasked with considering the shelf development program until 2030.
