Putin, Cameron pledge to cooperate in searching for solutions to Syrian crisis
LONDON. August 2 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and British Prime Minister David Cameron share a common understanding of a number of aspects of the Syrian problem and will instruct their ministers to continue to search for mutually acceptable solutions.
"We agreed to cooperate in looking for solutions to this problem and to give our foreign ministers an additional impetus to joint efforts and the search for mutually acceptable solutions," Putin said after talks with Cameron.
The situation around Syria grabbed considerable attention during the talks. "As regards some moments, our assessment of them is almost identical," Putin remarked.
Cameron, for his part, confirmed that Syria had been the focal point of the talks and said that despite differences in their positions on Syria, both agreed that they wanted the Syrian conflict to come to an end and wanted to see Syria a stable country. He added that discussions would continue at a foreign minister level.
