Ukrainian ombudsman denies receiving complaints from Tymoshenko
KYIV. Aug 2 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian parliamentary commissioner for human rights, Valeria Lutkovska, has said she has no reason to visit Yulia Tymoshenko and defend her rights as no complaints have been received from the ex-prime minister.
"To date, I have not received a single complaint regarding the conditions in which Ms Tymoshenko is held, so to be honest, we have no reason (to launch an inquiry) into the violation of a person's right to obtain medical aid, break into the ward and try to defend Tymoshenko's rights," Lutkovska told a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday.
Since German doctors have advised against disturbing Tymoshenko, so far there is no need to visit her, Lutkovska said.
If necessary, representatives from the ombudsman's office will attend court hearings of the cases against the ex-prime minister, she also said.
