Dollar starts trading week with slippage
MOSCOW. Aug 6 (Interfax) - The U.S. dollar was down and the euro up on the MICEX in early Monday trading, and the ruble slipped slightly against the bicurrency basket.
First dollar trading on the MICEX was in the 31.94-32.01 rubles/$1 range, averaging 31.99 rubles/$1 in the first minute of trading, which was 2 kopecks lower than Friday close and 55 kopecks under the official Monday exchange rate.
The euro began at around 39.6 rubles/EUR1, 13-14 kopecks up from Friday but 7 kopecks under the official exchange rate.
The bicurrency basket ($0.55 and EUR 0.45) was at 35.41 rubles, 4-5 kopecks up from Friday close.
The Interfax Center for Economic Analysis says the dollar's slippage and the euro's gains are attributable to the latter rising on the Forex market.
