Indian military arrive in Eastern Siberia for Indra-2012 international exercise
MOSCOW. Aug 6 (Interfax-AVN) - A contingent of the Indian Armed Forces arrived in the Eastern Military District on Monday for participation in Indra-2012 international exercise, Interfax-AVN was told at the press service of the district.
Part of the servicemen was flown by an Indian Air Force transport aircraft, the rest by civilian aircraft. From Ulan-Ude airport they left for a training facility near the town of Kyakhta in Buryatiya where they will be living in a field camp.
The press service of the Eastern Military District announced earlier that about 250 Russian servicemen and 50 pieces of military hardware will be involved in the Indra-2012 Russian-Indian anti-terror exercise in Buryatiya.
A joint Russian-Indian force will practice reconnaissance operations, as well as skills to trap and neutralize terrorist groups.
Russia will be represented by a motorized infantry and tank companies, by a mortar, artillery and missile batteries, and a grenade launching platoon." Indian servicemen will operate in Russian armored vehicles," it said.
The exercise will be held at the Burduny training ground of the Eastern Military District from August 6 to 16.
