Russian Agriculture Ministry should not directly manage fishing sector - Dvorkovich

MOSCOW. Aug 8 (Interfax) - Russia's Agriculture Ministry, to which the government has subordinated Russian federal fisheries agency Rosrybolovstvo in a new structure, should not directly manage the fishing sector, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich said at a Wednesday briefing in Moscow when asked why the government had rejected the idea of combining the duties of the deputy agriculture minister and the head of Rosrybolovstvo.

"Since the Agriculture Ministry is not to directly manage the sector, but to control what its management does, for this is needed a division of positions and not a combination," Dvorkovich said.

The head of government has decided there is no reason for merging the two duties, he said.
