Magnit sales revenues jump 32% in July
MOSCOW. Aug 9 (Interfax) - OJSC Magnit saw its sales revenues climb 31.67% year-on-year to 37.9 billion rubles in July, the company said.
In dollars, Magnit's sales revenues were up 13.03% at $1.166 billion for the month.
Sales in the retailer's main format - convenience stores - increased 24.76% to 30.7 billion rubles in July (up 7.1% in dollars to $944.3 million). Hypermarkets boosted revenues 62.05% to 6.55 billion rubles (in dollars, up 39.1% to $201.6 million). Magnit Family stores generated 192.9 million rubles in revenue in July, compared to 105.1 million rubles a year earlier ($5.9 million versus $3.77 million). Cosmetic store sales were up from 42.4 million rubles in July 2011 to 471.1 million rubles this July (in dollars - from $1.5 million to $14.5 million).
In January-July of this year, Magnit netted 245.4 billion rubles in revenue, which is 32.4% more than in the same period of last year. In dollar terms, sales were up 22.16% to $7.9 billion in the seven months.
Convenience store sales in January-July rose 25.1% to 202.2 billion rubles (in dollars - 15.4% to $6.5 billion), and hypermarket sales soared 70.4% to 39.8 billion rubles (in dollars - 57.2% to $1.3 billion). Magnit Family stores had revenue of 990.6 million rubles in the seven months, compared to 317.7 million rubles in January-July 2011 (in dollars - $32.05 million versus $3.5 million). Cosmetic stores boosted revenues to 2.5 billion rubles from 99.2 million rubles a year earlier (in dollars - $79.9 million versus $3.5 million).
During the first seven months of 2012, Magnit opened 528 stores, including 334 convenience stores, 12 hypermarkets, three Magnit Family stores and 179 cosmetic stores.
In July alone, it opened 115 stores - 72 convenience stores, four hypermarkets, one Magnit Family store and 38 cosmetic stores.
Overall, as of the end of July, Magnit had 5,837 stores - 5,340 convenience stores, 102 hypermarkets, six Magnit Family stores and 389 cosmetic stores.
