Organizing committee set up for SCO, BRICS summits in Ufa in 2015

UFA. Aug 9 (Interfax) - Bashkortostan leader Rustem Khamitov has signed a decree on preparations for a Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit of the heads of state and a meeting of the BRICS heads of state and government in Ufa in 2015.

Under the document, the republic sets up an organizing committee for these summits chaired by the republic's president, the Bashkortostan president's press office told Interfax on Thursday.

The regional government will have until October 1, 2012, to prepare and approve a plan of preparations, including a detailed plan for preparing infrastructure, buildings, structures and transport to be involved during the summits.

The SCO consists of Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

BRICS is a group of fast-growing countries that include Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa. It was formed in 2006 at the proposal of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
