Transport of ferrous metals on RZD's routes down 0.9% to 53.6 mln tonnes in Jan-Jul

MOSCOW. Aug 9 (Interfax) - Transport of ferrous metals on OJSC Russian Railways' routes went down by 0.9% year-on-year to 53.6 million tonnes in January-July 2012, RZD said in its materials.

Domestic transport of ferrous metals in January-July went down by 3.7% to 29.5 million tonnes. International transport increased by 2.8% to 24.1 million tonnes, including transport via ports, which went up by 0.3% to 14.1 million tonnes, and via border crossings, up 6.7% to 9.98 million tonnes. At the same time, imports went down by 16.4% to 4.1 million tonnes while exports declined by 6.9% to 18.8 million tonnes. Transit came to 1.199 million tonnes.
