Renault considering assembling Lodgy model at Russian plant
ST. PETERSBURG. Aug 10 (Interfax) - Renault is considering producing the new Lodgy model at its Avtoframos plant in Moscow, the French automaker's commercial director for Russia and Eurasia, Fabrice Charles Eugene Cambolive told reporters in St. Petersburg on Thursday.
The company is considering this possibility, but a decision has not been made yet, he said in response to a question about the prospect of assembling the Lodgy model at the Russian plant. He did not specify when a decision might be made.
All aspects need to be considered, Cambolive said. One of the factors is the opinion of consumers and how the car will be received by buyers in Europe, he said.
Lodgy, along with the Twizy, Pulse, Talisman and Dokker, is one of the new models that Renault launched in the first quarter of 2012.
Renault sold 95,579 vehicles in Russia in the first half of 2012, 29% more than a year earlier.
Avtoframos, set up in 1998 by Renault and the Moscow city government, currently assembles the Logan, Sandero, Duster, Fluence, Koleos and Latitude models.
