Russia condemns attacks on journalists in Syria

MOSCOW. Aug 14 (Interfax) - Russia condemns terrorist attacks against journalists in Syria and calls on the appropriate international organizations and countries that have influence on the Syrian opposition to react to these attacks, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"We condemn the terrorist attacks against journalists, who ensure the exercise of citizens' democratic rights to receive objective information, freedom of speech and opinion," Maria Zakharova, deputy director of the Russian Foreign Ministry information and press department, said in a statement posted on the ministry website on Tuesday.

"We are operating on the assumption that appropriate international and regional organizations and those countries that have influence on the armed opposition cannot ignore and not react to these outrageous facts," the report says.
